Unfortunately this is not always the case, If your Air Con is still working but not as cold as it used to be then a Service is probably the answer as the gas may just need topping up to required level.
When a vehicles Air Con completely stops working then this normally means there is no gas left in the system due to a leak
Is there more than one type of Air Conditioning Gas?
There are 2 types of Air Con gas available presently
1. R134a which is found in most vehicles up to 2014
2. HFO - 1234YF is now fitted in all vehicles after 2014
There is a big difference in price between the 2 gases which is why the cost at present to service a modern vehicle is far more expensive
